My first exam was held last morning. It lasted 3 hrs. During the 3 hrs I never stopped writing. I’m very happy about my yesterday’s performance no matter whether the outcome will be good or bad. Does good beginning mean..? Ok, forget it. It’s too early to think about this. However, I did get a lot of confidence from my late week’s revision and yesterday’s exam. I’ve proved there are many changes which can happen within one week.
I also want to thank everyone who gave me support including both physical and mental aspects during the past week. Yuliana is no doubt the first one whom I shall thank. She incorporated the fragments of knowledge which were chaotically stored in my mind. Angelina recommended me to start reading from “Benjamin’s Sale of Goods”. She gave me this advice on last Tuesday. All these happened within merely 7 days.
My next exam will come on next Wednesday. So, another 7-day plan will start from now.

【Half Day Out to Newark Castle】
For the rest of yesterday, I took a lot of pictures of tulip hidden in a secret garden on campus on my way home right after I finished the exam. When I was in that garden I also got a text message from the one whom I really want to talk for a while. However my daily schedule has become normal recently, which means I often feel dizzy around 12 at night. Every time when I think of giving her a call, I am always exhausted already.
Leaving campus with my digital camera full of beautiful flowers, I made a random decision for choosing where I should go. I checked the timetable online and rushed to rail station. Half an hour later, I was on a train to Newark Castle. Unknown yellow flowers filled with farmlands make the lands looking like covered with fluorescent yellow canvases, which I can just see from the window both sides. If the weather was better more it would be more beautiful. For taking pictures, I instead remained on seat and directly went to occupy a corner between two coaches where I could get better view and use my camera without caring about others’ attention which made me feeling disturbed and uneasy. This kind of feeling often comes out from my mind when I am taking pictures on campus. I always look like a tourist even I’ve been here more than 10 months.
Actually, the reason why I wanted to go out is just for relaxing. On this consideration, I didn’t really care about how fun it would be or where it is. I just wanted to go somewhere by train with limited distance, which I would not waste too much time on train but could also easily enjoy the feeling of travel. To be honest, I had been really tired in the afternoon after 3 hr never-stopping writing.
30 min later, I arrived. Newark is a shorten name from Newark-on-Trent, which means it is again a town located along the bank of the River Trent and drops a hint that it is also somewhere in Nottinghamshire. There are two train stations in Newark. One is Newark Castle where I was dropped, and the other is Newark Northgate where I walked rapidly about 20 minutes to see just for curiosity and spent even less time half-running and half-walking back. This is the typical behaviour which can be always seen when I am travelling. The trains passing through Newark Northgate station are southernbound to London or northernbound to Edinburgh. The railway system in UK is of long history, which has been developed in a sophisticated way and becomes a very complicated fabrication. To me, experiencing different lines and types of trains as many as possible of course becomes the part of fun here. The line, different from the one I took, is held by National Express with ugly, black and square-shaped trains which I’ve never tried before.
To be honest, the Newark castle is not a castle. The manor for the original scale of the castle had been replaced by other later constructions long time ago. There is only a wall remaining now, which is nevertheless enough to make the castle listed as a spot of historic heritage and for the local council to make money from visitors. Well, the castle is administration fee free because it is not a confined area. It is simply a wall, called “curtain wall”, standing along the bank of River Trent. I first saw this place when I was on the way to Lincoln.
The town itself is also very tiny. Before leaving for this town, I checked the timetable for the return leg. One train would come at 1855, and the next one jumped to 2100. No train is in between. I was a little worried that there might be not enough time for me. Then, I found I was really thinking too much. I walked around the town from this side to the other and repeated it from the other side. There was not much for seeing. That was why I decided to see the other rail station mentioned above. On my way home, I thought I was probably the only one visitor for sightseeing in that quiet afternoon.
